Today was a bittersweet day; The Conversation Lead ultimately decided to quit the project, and despite my attempts to persuade him, his decision was final. Since the primary focus area (The Citizen Services Team) was no longer involved, our supervisor requested that I conclude the project. I attempted to identify a new lead among other colleagues, offering to manage all the administrative burden, but I couldn’t find anyone with sufficient self-assurance to take it on. Nevertheless, I am still looking for a “Second Wind.”
This session had only three participants, and we played “Two Truths and a Lie”; afterwards, we engaged in a fascinating discussion about a classic theory: that by learning a new language, one acquires a “new soul.” This new persona needs to experience new things, to fail, and ultimately to grow.
I have decided to make an effort and conclude the semester with a “graduation” ceremony and tiny silly diplomas for our regular attendees. I never know when to give up; I know it is a balance between persevering and knowing when to wrap things up.
Word of the Week:
A Second Wind: A new strength or energy to continue something that is difficult. Usage: “Although we are closing for now, I’m looking for a way to give the project a second wind next semester.”
