Today was simply a bad week. I felt distracted, struggled to find the words, and my mind was elsewhere. We discussed Favorite Food and Drinks, and while my colleagues shared their preferred meals, I found it difficult to steer the conversation. I even attempted to invite them to a social gathering to practice in a more relaxed context, but my lack of enthusiasm failed to convince anyone. The group noticed my state, yet they were kind enough to remain supportive and move on.

Fortunately, I am no stranger to such setbacks. Years of playing the guitar have taught me about those occasions when improvisation fails and fingers don’t find the mojo. Running has shown me those days when the mind wants to quit. In both instances, the lesson remains the same: you must show up the next day.

As a new leader, I am learning that I don’t need to be perfect; I have never been that type of person, but it is about showing up the following day, even when feeling a sense of disappointment.

Word of the Week:

Transferable Skills: Skills developed in one situation which can be used in another. Usage: “The resilience I learned from running is a transferable skill that helps me handle bad days at work.”
