This week served as a test for the project. When I mentioned this session to my soon-to-be-wife, she said to me: “But you won’t be there!” We were scheduled to travel to Valparaíso for our marriage manifestación —a mandatory legal step for our wedding. My response to her was clear: this project does not depend on me; it depends on everyone.
To achieve this, I implemented a strategy known as divide and conquer. I delegated specific responsibilities to two colleagues: one assumed the role of The Conversation Lead, while The Logistics Lead managed administrative tasks, including attendance, amenities, and documentation.
I also had help from the Communications Department, who promoted the session using photos from our inaugural meeting. Despite my initial apprehension and my urge to micro-manage, I resisted and stood up on my conviction: effective leadership involves stepping aside to allow the team to grow.
Word of the Week:
Amenity: A desirable or useful feature or facility of a building or place. Usage: “The Hotel is awesome but the amenity sucks, nobody offered me a snack.”
